Laivamatka wall hanging – Made in Oitti, Finland

Laivamatka (Sea Voyage) is a unique design art wall hanging, handcrafted by Kutomo Rasinmäki. It is part of The Heritage Collection – a collaboration between Finarte and Kutomo Rasinmäki.

Wall hangings are an essential part of Finland’s textile art heritage. Laivamatka brings a fresh and modern interpretation to this tradition with its clean, graphic composition and beautifully muted colour palette. Designed in 1989, the piece combines soft shades of muted lilac and blue-grey with touches of warm yellow and burnt orange, while combining two distinct surface textures to create a subtle, tactile variation across the work.

All pieces in the collection are designed by Eija Rasinmäki, co-founder of Finarte, and each is a one-of-a-kind art textile. Every work is handmade in Oitti, Finland, using traditional Finnish weaving methods, recycled, and natural materials. Laivamatka measures 100 × 140 cm and is made from linen and cotton, with a linen warp.
